The author compares two types of cultures: (1) sympractical and (2) asympractical. The sympractical type of culture represents the domination of visual-motor actions which are not realized verbally in human behaviour. The asympractical type of culture presupposes the advance of mental actions with an object as compared with its material transformation. This typological distinction was introduced to the theory of culture by V.N.Romanov.
